Local Walk 5 and 6

Grassings ( 1 and half hours)

Take route as described in High Road walk, but on reaching the end of the path beyond the camping field Turn LEFT - Walk UP HILL to the first field gate on yourr Right. wALK THROUGH brockfields (any closed gates be sure to close behind you and keep all dogs under strict control as there are usually sheep and cows along the length of this walk) - cross beck by foot bridge and climb short slope to join the main Greenside to village road - Turn RIGHT to follow road down through the village to main road and hotel.

REMARKS Easy walking. Lovely places along the side of the beck at Grassings to picnic and for the children to play.

Pasture Beck (From 1 hour plus)

Start from car park at the top end of Hartsoop Village. Take the path to your RIGHT immediately through the big gate - cross beck and just walk as far as wanted up this very peaceful valley.

REMARKS Very easy walk but can be wet and boggy after rain. Boots or strong shoes receommended. Lots of old mine workings to be seen on your LEFT soon after crossing the beck. There are many places further up the valley to picnic along the grassy banks lining the lovely little beck. Hratsop village has some of the oldest houses in the dale and the old spinning galleries may still be seen on one or two of them.
